Double-outlet right ventricle: An echocardiographic approach

Division of Cardiology, The Hospital For Sick Children, Toronto; and the Department of Paediatrics, the University of Toronto

Abstract

Using echocardiography it is possible to obtain detailed information about the basic morphology, subtypes, and associated abnormalities in double outlet right ventricle. Armed with this information, surgical management can be planned in the majority of cases utilizing echocardiography alone. This article addresses the basic echocardiographic approach, provides an in-depth understanding of the various subtypes, as well as outlining the additional features that often complicate complete repair.
